The Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar made for a splendid setting to take engagement pictures of Fari and Arash. She looked stunning in her regal blue gown, and he looked dapper in his suit with a blue bow tie.
I had met Fari a couple years ago, photographing her for a project that ended up on exhibit at Saatchi. She hired me for her wedding photos without any hesitation or questions.
It was a sunny but not-too-hot Sunday when I took these gorgeous photos of the lovely couple. We ended up finishing the photo session at Stanley Park, which borders downtown Vancouver. She changed into a sparkly gold dress, while he opted for a white shirt, bowtie, suspenders, slacks and nice shoes.
Having been together for 7 years, you can see the look on their faces in these pictures-- Fari and Arash are excited for their wedding and the years to come.
Love is such a beautiful feeling! When people are truly in love, one look at them and you know they’ve been struck by cupid! And why not! Why hide something as beautiful and as precious as LOVE.
Amanda and Adam are wonderful people who are all set to tie the knot! Their romantic love story, the happiness in their eyes, the sparkle in their smile and the aura of love around them was captured in their recent engagement photos. One look at their engagement pictures and it’s impossible to miss the chemistry between the two! They say, a picture speaks a thousand words and the only words that come to my mind upon looking at their pictures is: Made for each other!
The couple loves dogs and also has an adorable pooch who also accompanied us for the photo shoot. It was fun to see the couple in their natural elements with their dog; having fun and sharing precious moments. Our beautiful bride-to-be, Amanda, looks absolutely stunning in pristine white against the natural blues, greens, and shades of autumn. Adam, looks dapper in solid shades of blue and grey, complimenting his lovely bride! The natural setting and lighting adds to the beauty of the couple. I personally prefer open and natural spaces as it allows endless backdrops and possibilities.
This beautiful natural haven is Stanley Park in Vancouver BC. If you have ever been there, you know why it’s the perfect place for a couple in love and well if you haven’t just look at all the beauty in here! This beautiful couple gets married in a week and their excitement and happiness could not be hidden from the camera. We had a wonderful day strolling around the park, talking about their love story, their plans, anxiousness and a lot more! It was a pleasure to work with such pleasing people and its people like them who make me enjoy what I do!
Photography is a passion and when you get to share it with such wonderful people, the joy only doubles! It’s great to meet people who find true love and are all set to embark on the journey called marriage. This day was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the spirits were high and the lovely couple were natural posers!
True love can never be hidden… every picture shows the beauty and joy of love!
One sunny July afternoon was a perfect day to gather in Vancouver’s iconic Stanley Park for a very special shoot.
Natasha first reached out to me to do a pregnancy session as she is expecting her second baby girl and a fourth child in the family! Needless to say, our shoot ended up being a very fun and lighthearted family shoot combined with a few snaps of Natasha’s shiny engagement ring with a hubby-to-be.
Natasha is a well-known businesswoman in the city. She is the owner of The Vanity Lab — Vancouver’s award-winning medical aesthetics clinic, so we knew the shoot was going to be gorgeous. All details were carefully planned by Natasha: from locations to matching outfits for her, her fiancé, their beautiful daughter and two adorable boys.
We started off on the trails by the historic Hollow Tree moving our way through the park to the ocean.
The weather was cooperative and we captured a lot of gorgeous shots with the sun rays beaming through the tall Stanley Park trees. Natasha’s and her daughter's Aaron dresses stood out among the dark trees revealing all the beautiful lace details. The dresses were carefully crafted by Hannah from Little Pink Dress Atelier just for this special shoot.
Having finished playing dress up in the trees, we headed to Second Beach to catch the last rays of sunlight by the ocean. We had lots of fun shooting lively family photos and individual portraits. There were jumps, hugs, kisses, and lots of love! Everyone, including all of their beautiful children were charming and collaborative — a photographer’s dream.
I am so honored to have been a part of Natasha’s and Jason’s beautiful family shoot. They were a delight to work with and I hope that these photographs will become long-kept memories in their family albums.
P.S. Congratulations on your engagement!
Nazanin and Nima have been great friends of mine for a while now. These two love birds, were the first couple I ever photographed as a professional photographer.
Today, I am grateful for our great friendship and I am beyond happy to capture their engagement photos for them.
I can not wait to celebrate their engagement party at West Wood lateau Golf and Country Club.
Wishing the two of you years of happiness and joy.
On the beautiful heights of Sea to Sky Gondola in the north-west of Vancouver, with a beautiful, simple yet elegant dinner table for two, we brought Farnaz and Arash together for their first year anniversary.
We started by seeking the most relaxing and refreshing views. After deciding on the gorgeous heights of the sea to sky gondola near British Columbia's Squamish, the inspiration for colors just came to us from the beautiful golden hours of sunset; blush, soft yellows, and whites with a touch of green that reflect back when the sun hits the green trees grown on the slopes. The dinner table setting incorporated some simple mixture of soft linens in addition to the luxurious hand crafted silver wear which was used both in the vase for the mesmerizing centerpiece by very talented Gloria at Flower Factory as well as the charger plate. The vintage silver cutlery from Heather Ross’s collection and the glass wear with soft gold and silver touches from The Cross Design was a nice finish for the table for two dinners! Finally, the chairs added an extra sense of whimsical yet keeping the luxurious touch with all its little details.
Last but not least, as a photographer, it is my job to present true and authentic representation of people, emotions, and events. It was truly an honor to photograph this beautiful couple for their anniversary. Especially knowing that they had a bad experience with their wedding, we created moments to be cherished for years and images to last for generations to come.
Remember the beautiful engagement session I posted in the last blog post?
Well, here are the same couple tieing the knot in a private ceremony on top of the beautiful heights of Grouse Mountain British Columbia in a beautiful sunny spring day. I know I am well behind my blog posts but I have to share this beautiful stylish couples photos sooner or later.
Bita and Sina exchanged their vows as their immediate family witnessed their love become eternal in a very intimate small ceremony.
Beautiful flowers by Hassan Aghamoheseni and Tina from Vancouver's Tala Florist.
If you are from Vancouver, you know that Vancouver's most beautiful scene is when the cherry trees start blooming and make the whole atmosphere of the city full of love and romance. It is extremely difficult to drive around town and ignore the exceptional essence of spring and the exquisite white and soft pink trees on every side walk or in the back of an alley.
Well for a photographer, Vancouver is heaven. Specially, during spring I simply can not resist the beauty of these flowers. Luckily Sina decided to propose to Bita in the spring and therefor, their engagement photos turned so beautiful and magical.
I'll let you be the judge of that.

Couple of weeks back I went to Marfa, Texas for a workshop which to my surprise did not meet my expectations! The pictures turned out good but I won't be sharing them for a little time until I am over the amount of disappointment I went through.
Luckily enough my friend and I took a quick trip to the thrift store close to the town and purchased the vase, the glasses, and the tray... then spray painted them. On our way back I filled the vase with wild flowers from the area. Then we asked the amazing Sara to model for us, put the make up on her myself and asked the beautiful Erika Antonio to give her some waves, and here are the result.. and to be honest I am much happier with what we accomplished ourselves in 2 hours than the entire workshop there! :)) Whats your opinion?
Our inspiration for the shoot was an Indian Romance – with glimmers of peach/light pink tones. We had two separate looks and a lot of beautiful, intricate details. We worked on every detail of the shoot for months & everything came together flawlessly, from the head to the toes (meaning hair to the nails and the henna detailing that was carried out throughout the shoot on the arms & feet, the stationary, and the cake). This won’t be your traditional Indian shoot – we modernized it and really brought a unique elegance to it using softer colors.
This photo shoot, which took place earlier this year, was produced & styled fully by Hasti from La Vista Events and I am honored that we had an outstanding team on board, including Tala Florist, Ganache Patisserie, Wellgroomed Designs, and hair/makeup artist Roya Fadai – just to name a few from our extensive list of talented contributors from the Vancouver wedding industry. Lastly, we had the behind-the-scenes filmed by Kunioo.

To those of you who know me, I am probably the most grateful person on the entire planet. If you lift a finger for me I never forget and I will forever cherish your kindness no matter how successful and well known I become. Those who don't know me yet, will soon know that kindness and honesty is what I have based my life and business on. I have promised myself to go above and beyond for all my brides only because I am doing this not because I have to, but because I LOVE to.
When I look back at where I started, I want to congratulate myself. I want to give my self a pat on shoulder and say: Well done Samineh! you worked so hard to start your own business. Of course, to be successful I had a mentor and for that I am grateful. For countless volunteer hours that I put to learn the ups and downs of the business and being present in every wedding of 2014 with Vasia Han I am so grateful. As I was getting prepared for Belluxe take off, Vasia was about to start her new journey with Boheme Work Shops and I am so delighted to be the first who had the opportunity to have a one on one with Vasia while she was also working on her teaching skills for the amazing workshops to come. Now, having said that if you are looking for a great workshop that is different and unique check them out. They are taking you to the amazing historic Greece to produce an original and extraordinary experience.
It was a cold yet beautiful sunny day and I got a call to shoot. When I arrived at the set the beautiful young and precious Thea Walmsley was sitting for Atefeh to complete her hair- make up. Meanwhile, Mehrshid Tahmasebi from Sunflower florist had an absolutely gorgeous bouquet ready for the shoot to begin. Lastly, our bride was all glamed up with the beautiful jewels made by the artist hands of Elsa Corsi.
Enjoy and get inspired,
I am so honored to have this beautiful work featured in Wedluxe Magazine blog for Valentine's Day. Here are some more pictures and the full story from that amazing, yet freezing day.
Enjoy you all!
Romantic colors of love and romance came together in this styled shoot at the front of the historic Vancouver Art Gallery. This shoot took place alongside concrete stairs with the large, royal lions providing a contrasting background. This shoot location was provided exclusively to Samineh Afrough from Belluxe Photography, for a few short hours to help bring her vision to life. Samineh took the lead on this styled shoot and collaborated with well-known and established industry contacts, the humble team from Tala Florist and Eclat Décor along with the talented Roya Fadai hair and makeup artist, just to name a few of the lovely contributors.
The Vancouver Art Gallery is an alternative venue location with beautiful high ceilings, curved stairways, and an array of options for ceremony and reception celebrations. However, we took the shoot outdoors in order to capture the raw beauty from an outdoor perspective.
The vision for the shoot was to showcase romance and elegance from every angle captured right down to every minor detail. Starting with the shoot location, there was beauty in the history behind the grand sculptures of the lions protecting the Vancouver Art Gallery and the stairs created beautiful dimensions and an artistic look. The décor provided by Éclat Décor set the tone for an opulent backdrop to compliment and offset the grey background from the concrete stairs and royal statues. The white, glossy rectangular table was a refreshing look as paired with crystal chiavari chairs. The table was styled with gold beaded charger plates, crystal glassware, luxurious utensils, and pink champagne. High and low crystal candle holders added more of a luxury feel as they were delicately arranged under two tall, overflowing floral centerpieces with rich, romantic hues of peach, pink, and lavender, full of roses and dripping down with flowing orchids – a refreshing and modern twist on Valentine’s colors. Candles and floating flowers led the way up the stairs to the table, creating a pathway towards passion.
Another accent wall was used to display some more delicate pieces, so we showcased that love is sweet by styling a classic cream colored against one of the historic backdrops near the Vancouver Art Gallery. The cake, designed by Soirette, had gold accents that were elegant and the macaroons were perfectly foiled with gold – adding another special touch of glow.
The couple that was paired for this shoot perfectly represented a young love, an innocence that glimmered with timeless romance. The bride wore a flowing Hayley Paige gown, with custom beading of jewels on the shoulders and open back, provided by Blush Occasions. The dress was paired with vintage, custom designed jewelry as a homage to the Vancouver art scene where there are many local designers and artists who can contribute by adding a personal touch for one’s wedding day – hoping that this would be an inspiration for future brides. The bride’s soft facial features were accented and enhanced by Roya Fadai, hair and makeup artist. Roya focused on the bride’s eyes and kept the rest of the face more neutral with a glowing blush look and created a soft, loose up-do hair styling that was in line with the soft romantic look. The bride’s look was completed with a pair of sparkly Jimmy Choo pointed-toe shoes from Holt Renfrew. The groom wore a tux by Ermenegildo Zegna, also from Holt Renfrew. The groom’s hair was by Mahyar Khoda and the outfit was styled by Ehsan Shademrooz. Monika Georgieva was our bride model and Sourena Sadrieh the groom model. Finally, the overall day-of coordination of the shoot was assisted by La Vista Events.
Bridal showers are the sweetest. The best of BFF's get together to throw you a party full of love, laughter and heartwarming wishes. This specific party was organized by sister of the bride, Chef Telnaz Mazidi who is creating amazing dishes at Shangri la hotel in downtown Vancouver. We were supposed to party at the beach, but we all are very familiar with Vancouverian surprise rain. After all, the day turned out great... I can not tell you all about the extremely delicious foods she prepared for this shower. To this day I crave the mango shrimps and that signature yellow drink which was something like awesomeness and Pina Colada combined. As for me, I had the honor to capture another fellow photographer's bridal shower and become her friend ever since.
Even though I think this should be my own love story title, I would like to introduce my very first couple I photographed.
Meet Ehsan and Sadaf, two Architects who fell in love while taking classes together. One year later he popped the question and here are just a glimpse of the pictures from their engagement.
